poorly differentiated synovial sarcoma
Poorly differentiated synovial sarcoma often has a round cell morphology, and rhabdoid features may be present.
However, many cases of poorly differentiated synovial sarcoma have conventional fascicular areas.
EMA and/or keratin are positive in virtually all synovial sarcomas and S100 is expressed in approximately 30%, but GFAP is consistently negative.
In up to 90% of cases, conventional or molecular cytogenetic analysis will reveal the characteristic t(X;18) translocation.
